Manuel Alcaraz is a Spanish percussionist specialized on the interpretation of contemporary music.
In 2013 he was awarded the 1st prize in Percussion at the “Concurso Permanente de Juventudes Musicales de España” (Jeunesses Musicales Spanish National Competition). This award enabled him to promulgate the contemporary percussion repertoire to several concert halls in Spain.
Since 2016, he has been a regular member of the Ensemble Schallfeld, a contemporary music ensemble based in Graz, Austria.
He plays regularly with contemporary music ensembles like Klangforum Wien, Ensemble Zeitfluss, Drumming percussion group, Ensemble Barcelona 2016 and Cadaques Orchestra.
In addition, he has performed in several festivals including Lucerne Festival, Wien Modern, Internationale Ferienkurse für Neue Musik Darmstadt, Klangspuren Schwaz (Tirol), Impuls Festival (Graz), Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Festival Grec, and Quincena Donostiarra.
Manuel received his Bachelor Degree at ESMuC (Catalonia College of Music, Barcelona). In 2015, he completed his Master Program in solo performance at ESMAE (Oporto, Portugal) with Professor Miquel Bernat, who was a large influence on his artistic career.
Presently, Manuel is completing the Practice and Performance of Contemporary Music program in Graz, where he works alongside with the members of the Ensemble Klangforum Wien.
