Szilárd Benes was born in Keszthely (Hungary) in 1990. He studied clarinet and bassclarinet by Prof. Stefan Schilling and historic clarinet by Dr. Ernst Schlader. He completed his mastercourse by Ernesto Molinari, Sabine Meyer, Wenzel Fuchs and Béla Kovács.
He won the 2 prize at the international championship for „Contemporary Hungarian Music“ in Hungary as well as a scholarship of Forum Hungaricum. His performance of clarinetquartetts from Krzysztof Penderecki in Graz in 2012 was broadcasted on Channel Ö1.
In 2013 he debuted as soloist by his project „Colours of Music“. In 2015 he performed his project „F Modulations“ in Budapest and his project „Clarinetronix“ a two-hour soloperformance with bassclarinet, electronic and video effects in Graz. He played at ICAD-Festival and IMPULS-Festival in Graz. The same year he won the 1 prize in composing competition of University Karl Franz with his project „Trio Sinus“
Szilárd Benes worked among others with the following Composers: Beat Furrer, Pierluigi Billone, Franck Bedrossian, Marko Ciciliani und Johannes Maria Staud. He has been a member of Ensemble „Schallfeld“ since 2015. In 2013 he founded „Klezmer Band of Graz“

2011 erhielt er den 2. Preis beim internationalen Wettbewerb „Zeitgenössische Ungarische Musik“ in Ungarn sowie das Stipendium des Forum Hungaricum. Seine Aufführung des Klarinettenquartetts von Krzysztof Penderecki in Graz im Jahr 2012 wurde auf Ö1 gesendet. 2013 debütierte er als Solist mit seinem „Colors of Music“-Projekt. 2015 präsentierte er sein „Fmodulations“-Projekt in Budapest und sein „Klarinetronix“-Projekt – ein zweistündiges Soloprogramm mit Bassklarinette, Elektronik und Video – in Graz. 2015 spielte er beim ICAD-Festival sowie beim IMPULS-Festival in Graz. Im selben Jahr gewann er mit seinem Crossover-Projekt „Trio_Sinus“ den 1. Preis beim Kompositionswettbewerb der Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz.
Szilárd Benes arbeitete u. a. mit folgenden Komponisten: Beat Furrer, Pierluigi Billone, Franck Bedrossian, Marko Ciciliani und Johannes Maria Staud. Seit 2015 ist er Mitglied des Ensembles „Schallfeld“. 2013 gründete er die „Grazer Klezmer Band“.
