The 2026 concert series of Ensemble Schallfeld is dedicated to the theme “Reflections.” The six concerts in this year’s cycle offer a space for reflection in which we explore, through music, the many changes in our present. How can contemporary music reflect the uncertainties, contradictions, and threats of the world we live in—and what can we learn from them through listening?

The series opens with the reflections of our opening concert (Spiegelungen I- Geometrien), where Schallfeld welcomes the NAMES Ensemble from Salzburg, featuring two commissioned works (by Filippo Perocco and Sara Stevanović) for double ensemble.

Our June program is aimed at (not only!) young audiences: in the project “Ist das Oper oder kann das weg?” students present their visions of Francesco Filidei’s L’opera (forse). In a vibrant evening of music theatre, heaven and earth meet to tell the impossible love story between a fish and a bird.

In the second half of the year, we will once again present new works by composers in residence, thanks to the StAiR program of the Province of Styria. We are especially looking forward to the dystopian scenarios of Maurizio Azzan and the sculpturally inspired sound masses of Jon Yu.
